LinkedIn - I Pair Program with AIs

So I finally looked up what 𝐯𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 is. It's kinda like what I do with my AIs, so I am glad people are finally coming around and learning how AIs can help them with their ideas.

For those of you who still haven't googled it, vibe coding is working with an AI to describe the program or app that you want to make. Then the AI does the coding for you.

So, what do I do and how is it different? What I do is 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐈𝐬. That means that I bring my experience and professional knowledge of software development and testing to the endeavor! This is not vibing. When I pair with my AIs, I:

▪️ Provide clear and structured requirements.

▪️ Review the code to make sure that it looks like what I actually need. (Yes I am actually familiar with HTML, CSS, and Javascript in my own right. 😏)

▪️ Test the code to look for bugs and strange edge cases. (I'm still the Bug Whisperer even though I am wearing a development hat too.)

▪️ Validate the code to make sure that it solves the problem, aside from whether or not it matches the intended design .

▪️ Document bugs for defect tracking and resolution.

▪️ And sometimes I even make my own resources or do my own code edits when I hit message caps or have a very specific vision that would take too long to walk the AI through imitating.

But, I am hopeful that the rise of vibe coding will make people more and more comfortable with the idea of tech professionals that delegate some of the heavy code lifting to AIs. As always, 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠/𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲.
